Taiko Legacy 2017
Celebrating contemporary performance and community, the MCA welcomes Tatsu Aoki, founder and director of Tsukasa Taiko, for Taiko Legacy and Reduction.
The 14th iteration of this family classic features original compositions and arrangements from ozashiki (geisha chamber music), minyo (folk music), ohayashi (classical/folk/theater music), and matsuri taiko (festival taiko music). Guest artists include:
Chizuru Kineya and Takane Umeya (Japan)
Grandmaster Yoshinojo Fujima and Tachibana Shijuro (Japan) performing nihon buyo (Japanese classical dance)
Melody Takata and Gen Ensemble (San Francisco)
